'Cross The Line' is the new 80s freestyle single by genre-bending and often experimental retrowave stalwarts Thought Beings and New York City's italo disco/retrowave duo Bunny X, a collaboration that has been in the works for quite a while ever since a label-wide Zoom meet and greet sparked the idea of a duo-on-duo alliance.
Cross The Line is a salty, attitude-driven 80s freestyle/Hi-NRG banger that might bring to mind for listeners such 80s artists as The Cover Girls, Sweet Sensation, Exposé and even early Madonna, whose 1984 track 'Pretender' from Like A Virgin was particularly inspirational on Cross the Line - both lyrically and sonically. All of the above-mentioned artists' works continue to inspire both Thought Beings and Bunny X, as they gleefully discovered while they worked on the track together during 2022.
Indeed, it was important to both to bring out that 80s, take no prisoners attitude and that the protagonist of this story sends her duplicitous lover packing after they crossed the line one too many times.

[LYRICS]
I can’t help but scratch my head when we’re together
It’s like you’re a million miles away
Could have sworn I knew you better
And instead of saying all of the sweet things
you used to say before
Well I could just about place my bet
that you’ll completely ignore
All of the things I still do for you
You’re breaking my heart in two
but I won’t go to pieces over you
Did you cross the line
Cuz something don’t seem right
Its like my mama always said
It happens once and then it happens twice
I used to stare at the phone and wonder why it wasn’t ringing
I remember rushing home
Hoping my message light was blinking
But I keep on getting mixed emotions
first you’re hot then you’re cold
And I’ma just about to lose my mind
Because you don’t even know
how much love I could give to you
You’re breaking my heart in two
but I won’t go to pieces over you
Did you cross the line
Cuz something don’t seem right
Its like my mama always said
It happens once and then it happens twice
You’re breaking my heart in two
but I won’t go to pieces over you
Did you cross the line
Cuz something don’t seem right
Its like my mama always said
It happens once and then it happens twice
Did you cross the line
Cuz something don’t seem right
Its like my mama always said
It happens once and then it happens twice
I want a hero but you act like a zero
So I'll say ciao for now baby

This is a great compilation! However, what's with the hyper-politicized track 5 and its “extremist” lyrics??—totally out of place (hypocritical for a traditional Christmas context) and that'll be dropped from my playlist. exsurgo
